Bristol Royal Infirmary – Dermatology Refurbishment
Project Summary.
Client – University Hospitals Bristol & Weston Trust
Client Representative – Edmond Shipway
Location – Bristol
Value – £450k
Programme – 21 Weeks
These works were completed over three phases within a live environment, enabling the ward to continue providing consulting and treatment provisions throughout the planned programme of works.
Interactions with adjacent working areas of the hospital are always a vital programme consideration at the BRI, however a critical part of this project from a planning and programme perspective, centred around the completion of above ground drainage alterations, within the 24 hour sterilisation facility that provides a critical service to whole of the BRI site. Following a thorough pre-planning process and agreement of the proposed works with the client team, we undertook core drilling, pipework alterations and final connections during the planned weekly four hour shutdown window. This enabled all works to continue without any detrimental effect to the operation of the sterilisation plant.
All labour, plant and material movements were strategically managed due to the limited space available outside of the Dermatology ward on Marlborough Hill.
